SpaceGuard SG16 Light Curtain Series

The SpaceGuard SG16 series is the next generation of self-contained, sequentially blanking light curtain system from Telco Sensors, EN 12978 compliant and TUV Nord approved to be an E-device according to EN 12453, allowing use as a stand-alone non-contact safety device on a power operated door or gate.
The complete system consists of transmitter, SGT and receiver, SGR which are positioned opposite of each other, generating a dense array of parallel scanning infrared beams.
The SG 16 series features a Dynamic Sequential Blanking function which allows the detectors to be positioned in the guide tracks of an overhead door, where the door travels directly in front of the protection area, interrupting the beams sequentially from top to bottom. The system can distinguish between the closing door and an object by ignoring the beams that are obstructed by the moving door (up to 1,6 m/s closing speed) while leaving the below remaining beams active to detect an object below the door edge. The door can stop at any position and reverse, as required for partial door opening function.
The standard series is available in four different lengths of 1970, 2150, 2330 and 2510 mm, each offered with three different beam patterns. The total number of channels ranges between 20 to 53, depending on chosen beam pattern and length. Other length options are available upon request, including intermediary lengths and shorter models.
The SG16 series is housed in ultra compact and sturdy black anodised aluminium profiles with a small 12x14 mm (w x d) cross section, ensuring a suitable fit in even the most space-limited installations. All electronics are fully potted/encapsulated in the profiles, ensuring IP67 rating and a very robust construction. The light curtains include plastic mounting clips for quick and easy snap-in fixture. Alternatively a choice of 3 different stainless steel mounting clips are optional available. The SG 16 is optionally available with integral front mounting holes - upon request. The light curtains can be fitted with an optional front cover that snaps on and provides additional protection of the optoelectronic components and easy-to-clean front surface.
The SG16 includes an advanced automatic signal-tracking (AST) feature that ensures that no onsite set up nor adjustments are required. The signal of each individual channel is adjusted automatically which compensates for misalignment and contamination during operation. The optics design ensures the detectors are easy to align on installation. Furthermore, the light curtains offer a 12 m sensing range and a 100.000 lux light immunity, which makes it highly versatile and suitable for almost any door application including sectional, high-speed, residential, cold room and cleanroom doors.
The system is supplied with a 12-30 V dc power supply and available with an opto-isolated solid state output, transistor output or OSE output. The light curtains are assembled with 30 cm colour-coded pigtails with a moulded M8 plug and corresponding extension cables; 15m length for SGT and 5m for SGR. Other lengths are available upon request.
The SGT includes a test input that may be used for either disabling or enabling the transmitting power temporarily for test purposes or for set up of the static blanking function, allowing a selection of coherent beams to be permanently ignored (only in C1 models). Four different test input configurations are available upon request.
The light curtains can be monitored via bright LED indicators positioned in the front of the profile. Includes power-on, output and system status indicators.
